DR. NATHAN ZERWIG, DVM
Associate Veterinarian Dr. Nathan Zerwig was born and raised in Ste. Genevieve, MO. He received a Bachelor of Science degree at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Zoology in 2019. He then attended the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2023. He is very excited to start his career as a veterinarian at Trailside Animal Hospital. Dr. Nathan’s professional interests include internal medicine, especially infectious diseases, and dermatology. He also enjoys getting to know his clients while caring for their pets. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, fishing, and getting outdoors with his dog, Alfie. |

NATALIE
Reception Natalie was born and raised in Columbia and studied art, architecture and business at Mizzou. She’s always had a deep love for animals and is excited to be surrounded by them every day! When she’s not at work you can usually find her on a hike or at home curled up with a good book and her new kitten "Pip." |
KALEE
CVA, Certified Veterinary Assistant, Level 1 Kalee grew up in Ashland, Missouri with a love for animals, her first word even being “cat.” She loves spending time with her fiance, William and children Luke and Brelynn. She also enjoys walking her dogs Duke, Jessi, Waylyn and Sam in the creeks by her home. To relax she likes to cuddle on the couch with her cats Oliver, Boots and Princess Elana. She is excited to see where her career with animals takes her. |
LANE
Veterinary Assistant Lane has worked in the veterinary field since 2019. He grew up on a small farm in Iowa raising a variety of animals, but mainly show cattle and quarter horses, both of which he still enjoys today. His favorite part of animal medicine is meeting a family and their new puppy and watching that puppy become a valued member of the family as the years pass. |
ASHLEY
Reception Ashley was previously a lead two-year-old teacher for 9 years at a local daycare. She was ready for a career change but she still wanted to stay dedicated to helping others so Trailside has been the perfect fit. When she is not at work she is spending time with her teenage son, Eli who does competitive marching band and is on the soccer team at his high school. Ashley also enjoys camping, floating, hiking, being outdoors and has a love for photography. Her dream future would be to load up her two dogs, Boss and Nova and set out to explore the world and be a traveling photographer! |
AUSTYN
Veterinary Assistant Austyn was born and raised in small town Enterprise, Utah where she loved caring for her family farm. She graduated with her associates degree in animal science from Brigham Young University - Idaho. Austyn loves to train dogs, horses, and has a passion for competing in rodeo and reining. Austyn loves supporting her husband, Connor, who is currently a veterinary student at University of Missouri - College of Veterinary Medicine, so they can in the future achieve their dreams of someday owning their own large animal veterinary clinic where Austyn can work alongside him as his partner. They have several four-legged friends they love dearly including their two dogs, Annie and Merlin, and their horse Fancy who is due to foal in June 2024. She loves working at Trailside and is so happy to be able to continue working with animals, which is her dream job, while furthering her knowledge in this career! |
KELLY
Veterinary Assistant Kelly was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Mizzou and obtained her Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences and Spanish and her minor in Psychology. She has always had a big passion for working with animals. She previously worked at the local humane society during her time in college and looks forward to continuing her work in a field she loves! |
MACEY
Veterinary Assistant Macey studies Animal Science at Mizzou and plans to attend vet school after graduating with her bachelors. She loves to spend what free time she has with her dog, Loki and her family. Macey has been in this field of work for a couple years now and has loved it. She looks forward to what her role at Trailside holds for the future, and loves being apart of the team! |
